news, local-news,

Volunteers from the Ulladulla SES have been inland recently helping people in flooded areas. Dion and Ned have been stationed in Forbes, while Jamie has been based in Wagga. In Forbes, Dion and Ned were part of a team that knocked on the doors of 1200 doors to alert people of the ongoing flood situation and they also helped fill 60,000 sandbags to help protect the community of Forbes. Jamie, behind the scenes, has been collecting and collating intelligence in Wagga and now Parkes. The trio contributed to the effective management of this major flooding event. “Love that Ulladulla is represented alongside so many other SES units helping the community,” the Ulladulla SES said in a statement. Forbes Shire Mayor Phyllis Miller OAM is grateful for the help from the SES. “We just need to be prepared no matter what the circumstances and I feel confident our amazing SES and emergency services will be able to handle the situation,” Mayor Miller said. More wet conditions appear to be heading towards Forbes. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a warning that further significant rainfall is predicted this weekend, and that the Lachlan River, in particular, could see renewed rises that could cause prolonged flooding.
