BOSTON (CBS) – Several hurricane warnings were issued for parts of the South Coast and Cape Cod late Wednesday night through Thursday morning as the remnants of Ida moved through the area.
The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for parts of Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes and Plymouth counties beginning at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
For about three hours, hurricane warnings were issued for parts of Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard as the storm moved northeast.
More than 2,400 customers were without power in Massachusetts as of 2:30 a.m.
Tom Lyons, director of public engagement at MEMA, said there were no reports of major damage. “We will definitely be looking at daylight hours to see if any of the hurricane warnings caused damage that caused a tornado,” he said. Lyons said.
Tornado hour is valid until 7:00 AM in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts.
Flash flood warnings are also in effect in most of Massachusetts.
