October was a wet month for Tasmania due to four significant rainfalls associated with low pressure systems. The Bureau of Meteorology reported it was likely many rainfall records were broken in October for daily and monthly amounts. Significant rainfalls were at Mount Barrow with 489.8 millimetres and at Gray with 453.2mm, while Launceston reported 109.4mm and Hobart reported 138.6mm. A major flood warning for the River Derwent and moderate flood warnings for the Jordan and Macquarie rivers remain.
