Lincoln, Skegness and Mablethorpe hit by thunderstorm and “sudden flood” warning

Lincoln, Skegness and Mablethorpe received a thunderstorm warning from the Met Office.

The yellow warning will be in effect from 2pm this afternoon until 8pm this evening.

A statement on the Met Office website said: “Most areas are escaping the worst, but a few heavy showers and thunderstorms today can cause local travel disruptions and flooding.

“Spray mist and sudden flooding could result in difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

“Floods or lightning strikes can lead to delays and some failures in rail and bus connections.

“There is little chance that homes and businesses will flood quickly and that some buildings will be damaged by floods or lightning strikes.”

The warning, issued at 10:54 a.m. on Friday, extends along the east of England, from Newcastle all the way down to Ipswich.
