LA CROSSE, Wis. (KWNO)- The National Weather Service-La Crosse has issued a Flood Watch for Winona and the surrounding counties in southeast Minnesota.
The Flood Watch takes effect at 8 p.m. Thursday and expires at 7 a.m. on Friday. Forecasters expect multiple lines of thunderstorms to track across the region overnight and bring widespread rainfall totals ranging from 1-3 inches with 3-6 inches possible in localized areas.
Officials say to expect flooding in low-lying areas and other spots that are prone to flooding. They warn the heavy rain can cause rivers to rise quickly.
A Flood Watch is issued when flooding is possible. A Flood Warning is when flooding is happening.
