Flood warnings and alerts in place for Lancashire amid heavy rainfall

Two flood warnings (where flooding is expected) and seven flood alerts (where flooding is possible) were listed in Lancashire on Sunday (October 31) amid inclement weather conditions.

Flood warnings are as follows:

  1. River Leven at Newby Bridge and Backbarrow
  2. River Wyre at St. Michaels North

Flood alerts are as follows:

  1. Earby Beck and Glusburn Beck
  2. Lower River Lune and Conder
  3. Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster
  4. Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck
  5. Upper River Aire catchment
  6. Upper River Calder catchment
  7. Upper River Wyre, Brock

Meanwhile, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer, Justin Johnston took to his Twitter account on Sunday night and said: “Difficult travel conditions tonight with flood areas on roads on A6 and M6 between Preston and Lancaster.

“We have also had calls to two cars in flood waters in rural areas near Preston. Please avoid flood waters.”
