A flood warning has been issued for Saint Lucia as heavy rainfall is expected over the island from tonight, October 9 into October 10, the Saint Lucia Metrological Service said Saturday ahead of the heavy showers.
According to Meteorologist, Cyril Saltibus, “A tropical wave over the Lesser Antilles, enhanced by an upper-level trough system will generate an increase in rainfall and thunderstorm activity across the island. Due to the past two days of rainfall activity increasing soil moisture, the possibility for flooding and landslides is very likely especially in areas prone to these hazards.”
Therefore, the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services has issued a flood warning for Saint Lucia from 8 pm today until 8 pm tomorrow.
“Residents and motorists, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides are urged to exercise extreme caution in their activities. In addition, small craft operators and sea bathers are asked to exercise caution due to reduced visibility, gusty winds and locally rough seas,” Saltibus said.
All residents are asked to pay attention to further announcements from the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services and the National Emergency Management Organization, Nemo.
