Flood Warning Issued For Greene, Parts Of Ulster

GREENE COUNTY, NY — The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a flash flood warning for southern Greene County and northeastern Ulster County.

It’s in effect until 4:30 p.m.

At 1:28 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Hunter, Windham, Lanesville, North-South Lake Campground, Cairo, Ashland, Jewett, Lexington, Tannersville, East Jewett, Maplecrest, Elka Park, South Jewett, Beecher Corners, Hensonville, Edgewood, Brooksburg, Haines Falls, Platte Clove and Spruceton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
