Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Katherine River
Issued at 04:21 PM CST on Monday 27 December 2021

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT KATHERINE AND NITMILUK FROM EARLY TUESDAY
River levels are rising throughout the Katherine River catchment, and minor flooding may develop at Katherine and Nitmiluk from early Tuesday.
In the last two days in the Katherine River, rainfall totals of up to 100mm have been recorded. Further rainfall totals of 50 to 100mm are possible overnight Monday into Tuesday.

Katherine River Gorge Road:
Minor flooding may occur along the Katherine River Gorge Road.
The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at -0.12 metres and rising.
With forecast rainfall, the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre may exceed the minor flood level (3.00 m) early Tuesday morning.

Katherine Town:
Minor flooding may occur at Katherine Town.
The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is currently at 3.41 metres and rising.
With forecast rainfall, The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge may exceed the minor flood level (16.00 m) Tuesday morning.

Flood Safety Advice:
The Northern Territory Emergency Service advises that people should:
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Prepare for flooding and move away while safe to do so.
Don’t drive into floodwaters.}
