Driver dies after striking curb, vaulting over wall and into lake near busy Osceola County road – WFTV

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A driver died after she struck a curb, vaulted over a wall and into a lake near a busy Osceola County road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a 32-year-old Sanford woman was driving southbound on World Drive. For an unknown reason, she failed to stop at the intersection, struck a curb and vaulted over a wall and into a lake.

The woman died at the scene. Her car was later located by a dive team.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Orlando Fire Department dive team has divers in the water near Celebration Boulevard and World Drive.

Traffic lanes are blocked near Celebration High School. The road will remain blocked until firefighters are able to recover the submerged car.

Officials said to expect delays for several hours.
